This lovely pair of bedsides was made by F. S. Gill & Sons who were based on Chapel St, South Yarra at the time.  They feature;

• maple timber & maple timber veneer construction
• date stamped; June 1952
• superb bow-front design
• dovetail-joined drawers
• matching etched Bakelite handles
• glass tops (thick glass)
• recessed plinth base

Condition overview; in good condition relative to their age, they are solid and sturdy pieces and the drawers and doors all work well.  As can be expected on used pieces of this vintage, they display general wear, knock (including to the left-hand base of one of them) and surface marks.  In addition, they may have been joined at some point, hence marks to the inside facing sides of each.  Also, a couple of the drawers don’t sit quite flush when closed
