A superb, eye-catching, multi-functional piece, even though there are no makers marks, we are pretty certain it was made in Melbourne, Australia by Atel Furniture Pty Ltd.  The firm was established in 1963 in Bathurst (NSW) and was liquidated in 1982.  They were renown for producing high quality, stylish and multi-functional units.  It features;

• walnut timber, teak timber veneer, cam & pin construction
• circa early to mid-1960’s
• spacious open bookcase
• drop-front mirror-back drinks cabinet with suspended shelf
• 4 drawers
• 2 door cabinet
• complete & matching inset contour timber handles
• 5 height adjustable timber shelves (x 2 bookcase, x 2 cabinet)
• recessed plinth base
• due to the cam & pin fittings, the top can be fully dismantled leaving the base as one piece, making it easy to transport

Condition overview; in good condition relative to its age, it is a solid, well-made piece.  The drop front, drawers and doors all work well.  There are no chips or cracks in the mirror.  As to be expected on a used piece of this vintage, it displays general wear, knock and surface marks.  In addition, there is some inconsistency to the finish on the left-hand side as a result of sun damage. 

Dimensions; 1540mm wide x 460mm deep (drop front cabinet open; 730mm deep) x 1840mm high. Servery top open; 800mm high.  Internal cabinet depth; 415mm deep.  Internal bookcase depth; 265mm deep.
